| First of all alia thank you for your comment :) I would like to correct you, as for as my knowledge goes, sand originates from finely divided rock particles. For example some desert sand maybe come from limestone while other sands may come from granite. Sand plays an important role in geologists works and some of it is described in the book by a famous geologist, called Sand: the never ending story. I do believe though that the subjects of dpclicks competitions should not be taken as is and should be thought of as more loosely fitting or a general idea for the photo, not that the photo should be 100% accurate to the subject. But that is just my opinion :) Thank you again |

| The photo is beatuful, but according to Wikipdia, geology is the science comprising the study of solid Earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which it evolves. <br/>The majority of geological data come from research on solid Earth materials. These typically fall into one of two categories: rock and unconsolidated material (soil).<br/>I do not think that a pohto showing only sand, which is just the surface of earth, depicts geology. According to my understanding, geology is concerned with the depth in earth... Please correct me if I am wrong... |
