This photo was taken during clashes that erupted in February between soccer fans, known as Ultras, and police forces near Tahrir square. The clashes lasted for few days with protesters not backing down and police not running out of rubber bullets or tear gas. During the brief ceasefire that would be eventually broken, protester shot fireworks to encourage themselves and scare police forces off.
